Where My Water Bill Payments Go

As the cost of water continues to rise, we thought it would be helpful to show customers what is billed and where your monthly payment goes.

If you were to use 10,000 gallons of water, your total bill would be $67.00. Of that total:

  • $43.00 is the fee paid to the North Harris County Regional Water Authority (NHCRWA). The fee is currently $4.30 / 1,000 gallons.
  • $14.00 is the water fee charged by Kleinwood M.U.D. The flat fee of $7.50 is charged for up to 5,000 gallons of use. A variable fee per thousand gallons is charged over 5,000 gallons of use.
  • $10.00 is the sewer fee charged by Kleinwood M.U.D. This is a flat fee billed each month.

The chart above is based on 10,000 gallons of water used at residential rates. Percentages shown will vary based on actual use. The fees charged by Kleinwood M.U.D. pay for the day to day operational costs of providing water and sewer service to our customers. For information about the NHCRWA and their fees, please visit https://www.nhcrwa.com/.
